Sports Massage
Sports and Remedial Massage differs from other forms of massage as it covers the management, manipulation & rehabilitation of the soft tissues (muscles, ligaments, tendons and fascia) of the body. It uses a combination of traditional massage strokes and specialised techniques such as Soft Tissue Release, Neuromuscular and Muscle Energy Techniques to help lengthen and realign soft tissue fibers. This in turn helps to maintain flexibility and ease of movement, thus encouraging better posture and more efficient use of the body which will promote injury recovery and also prevention. The specialised deep tissue techniques used in Sports Massage mean that its positive effects can last longer than with other types of massage.
Everybody can benefit from massage. We can help relieve many day to day problems resulting from occupational issues, accidents and poor posture while reducing anxiety and stress levels.
Stott Pilates
Stott Pilates® is a contemporary approach to the original exercise method pioneered by the late Joseph Pilates. The refined method resulted in the inclusion of modern principles of exercise science and rehabilitation - making it one of the safest and most effective methods available. Stott Pilates® is recognized as The Professionals Choice by studios, fitness facilities, fitness professionals and clients worldwide.
How the machines work
The GYROTONIC® machine has a handle unit which moves in a set compass circle, allowing the spine to flex, extend and rotate in one motion. This is the only machine that has this facility. The tower allows the straps to be used for upper and lower body sequences, which facilitates rotation patterns therefore allowing articulation of joints in an aerobic capacity.
The Pilates reformers work on a spring and pulley system and have a high specification sliding carriage, which allows for ultra smooth glide of movement.
The Rack allows for sequential spinal movement, which is controlled through spring tension.
The Chair is spring loaded with a split pedal to be able to use right and left sides of the body independently.
The machines are extremely effective when used in conjunction with a trained practitioner, because they allow significantly more scope and range of movement than can be attained without the machines.
A major cause of employee down time is due to employees being absent to recover from muscular skeletal injuries. Routine and repetitive movements within their employment often cited as the cause. Poor posture is often a contributory factor and a major cause of pain.
